It Has Begun

I started the RYT(Registered Yoga Teachers) training last month. It's a 200-hour program and I go to the school for intense training one weekend per month. My training last month was amazing. I learned about anatomy, physiology, meditation, Pranayama(breathing), yoga philosophy, teaching methodology and of course the Asanas(postures). There are lots of homework and ideally I should practice yoga 6 days a week. I am learning to manage my time. My son likes to do yoga with me but he usually ends up underneath me. This is a very important moment in my life so I have to share with all of you.

I have been trained Ashtanga yoga, which is involving lots of physical movements. It also requires the mind control. So this type of yoga is supposed to be like moving meditation. It is really inspiring and challenging. I already feel the change within my mind and body. It's a cleansing process and helps me gain control with my inner self.  There is a lot for me to learn and I'll share more later on. By the way, if anyone of you is interested in learning yoga, please let me know. I will need some people to practice teach with.... :)

Cherish the Moments

My son and I love to take walks in Autumn. We took a walk the other day and it's a perfect day. You know, it's the kind of weather that makes you want to breathe in the beauty and energy floating in the air. The sky was high and blue. The clouds were like cotton candies and all kinds of animals. He stopped by the flower bush to pick up some purple pedals on the ground. He was so excited about the beautiful flower pedals he collected. This was the moment I wish I had a camera with me and captured the bright smile on his face.

I want to share with you the story of this yellow ladder. About a month ago, we were on our morning walk. We walked by a house with tons of stuff setting on the curb. Among all the furniture and other toys and junks, this yellow ladder caught his eyes and he could not let go. It was part of the bunk bed I think. I told him, "If you want that thing, you have to carry it home all by  yourself. I'm not taking it!" Without thinking, he put that ladder on his little arms and started to walk home. It's about half a mile from home and it was very hot. He was sweating like crazy and really had very hard time after going up the hill. He did not complain but just stopped when we were almost to our street. I couldn't help giving him a little hand. He got home and started to put the ladder to use right away. He used it against the wall, the bed, the door, the couch and everything he could see. He's absolutely delighted and felt like he could really fix things or paint the wall just like Baba. What a great treasure he had found! (Baba and Mama certainly did not think it's a good idea to have it around. I did not think he could carry that heavy thing home. What can I say, he is a big strong boy!)

Okay, about the mirror.. He loves to take pictures. That afternoon we took some fun pictures together. He took this one saying, "Mirror, say cheese!"

Hurricane Ike

Hurricane Ike really did great damage to Ohio. Part of our neighbor's tree actually fell off in our backyard due the storm two weeks before Ike came. When Ike hit Cincinnati, it took down lots of our roof shingles. My son was so scared that day hearing the shingles falling from the roof and worrying about his mommy. (I was at my yoga training and trying hard to meditate when this happened.) We were so blessed to have our church brothers come to help us. Since Baba is not fond of height, they did most of the repair. We are truly grateful for their friendships.

We enjoyed watching the cleaning crew picking up all the trees and limbs along sides of the streets.....

Making Shui Jiaos

This was his first dumpling(shui-jiao). We had lots of fun making these as a family. In Taiwan, we like to make dumplings as a fun activity. When we get together, we have to eat good food!!!
